Andy Byron, CEO of U.S. tech company Astronomer, has been placed on administrative leave following the circulation of a viral video showing him in a seemingly intimate moment with the company’s HR chief, Kristin Cabot, during a Coldplay concert.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 16, at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. The pair were caught on the venue’s Jumbotron embracing, with Byron quickly turning away from the camera while Cabot briefly faced it. The moment drew even more attention when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin commented from the stage, joking, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy,” igniting speculation online.

Following the viral clip—which has since garnered millions of views and sparked a wave of memes and comedic videos—CNN reported on Friday, July 18, that Astronomer announced Byron’s suspension and the launch of a formal internal investigation. While the company did not directly mention Byron, Cabot, or the video, it emphasized the importance of leadership accountability.
In an official statement shared on LinkedIn, Astronomer stated:
“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”
In the interim, co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy will step in as acting CEO.
While the company navigates the ongoing investigation, the incident continues to trend online as the public speculates about the nature of Byron and Cabot’s relationship and its implications within the company.
